Research

Nicole received her MS in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in research from Avila University in 2018. She worked in a food cognition research lab during her time at Avila and interned at Hoglund Brain Imaging Center analyzing infant EEG data during her undergraduate career. This internship led to an opportunity as a research assistant on a large pregnancy/infant cognition clinical trial (PANDA) while in graduate school (this is where she first worked with John). After obtaining her MS, she continued to work on the trial as a research associate/study coordinator through its completion in 2021. She then gained experience coordinating FDA-regulated clinical trials at the Alzheimer’s Disease Center before migrating back to working on pregnancy trials through the Department of Dietetics and Nutrition at KUMC. She is also spending time working on the iLearn study with Dr. John Colombo through KU Lawrence.
